The company's goal was to rapidly transfer a conceptualized proteomics laboratory device into a commercially viable bench-top instrument, capable of simultaneously and independently processing 96 mechanically and electrically isolated samples contained within disposable sample cartridges.   • Convertible Chemical Synthesis System

    In order to accelerate time to market and decrease production and service costs, MPR designed a new convertible chemical synthesis system satisfying the technical needs of two devices simultaneously. The automated chemistry module can be used with both positron emission tomography (PET) or in the production of Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) for use in diagnostic imaging. HUCKdesign℠, a service of MPR's Product Development Group, provided the industrial design expertise for the unit. The presence of extremely aggressive chemicals prevented the use of most commercial finishes resulting in the use of anodized brushed aluminum and polished stainless steel exterior panels. The installation of the disposable components was carefully assessed and supported by graphic traces and informative copy created by HUCKdesign℠.   • Gel Protein Recovery System

    MPR developed the GPR-800 to function as a gel protein recovery system. MPR performed all phases of the product development process from performing detailed engineering of the microchip-based protein/peptide processing system to the industrial design of the enclosure. The case of the device was designed to convey a professional image both distinctive and relevant to the universe of cutting edge laboratory technology.   • Mobile Surgical Sedation System

    HUCKdesign℠, MPR's in-house industrial design team, provided comprehensive industrial design capabilities for the development of a mobile surgical sedation system for a company specializing in pain management systems. HUCKdesign℠ supported the development of the device by designing the specialized enclosure system, which supports oxygen tanks and reagent containers, and also houses blending manifolds and control electronics. In addition, device usability was improved through the development of a custom Graphical User Interface to manage conscious sedation.   • Portable Keyboard Sanitizer

    In order to meet the needs of a start-up company focused on sanitization and disease prevention products, HUCKdesign℠, MPR's industrial design team, provided industrial design services for a new portable keyboard sanitizer. This sanitizer was designed to minimize the person-to-person transfer of pathogens by sanitizing computer keyboards using ultraviolet light in environments where computer stations are used by multiple operators, including hospitals, nursing homes, and training centers. The device has been shown to dramatically reduce the spread of disease by means of carefully programmed doses of germ-killing light.
