Position Title: Electrical Power Engineer
General Job Description
MPR is actively growing our business in electrical power systems and is seeking individuals for project electrical engineering positions. The ideal candidate will bring experience in electrical power systems and project management, as well as business relationships that will help us expand our client base. This position is for MPR’s Clifton Park, NY Office.
Typical Responsibilities
The individual will work as a project engineer and/or project leader to interface with clients, define project requirements, develop project plans and schedules, prepare deliverables, and communicate results internally and externally. The individual will also identify new opportunities consistent with MPR’s business strategy and actively develop relationships with current and potential new customers. Leadership responsibilities will be commensurate with the individual’s capabilities and experience.
Qualifications
The candidate must be willing to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment and exhibit strong technical skills and self-motivation. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science in electrical engineering.
- 2 to 5 years experience in engineering related to electrical power systems and equipment.
- Demonstrated track record of technical accomplishments in relevant areas such as control systems, electrical machinery, industrial controls, protective relaying and safety-critical applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Position Title: Electronics Hardware Engineer
General Job Description
MPR is actively growing our business in the product development area and is looking for a unique individual with an electronics hardware engineering background. This job involves working on MPR project teams as a lead hardware engineer. The individual will define project requirements, develop project plans and schedules, design analog/digital circuits, verify designs through analysis and bench testing, and communicate results internally and externally. Positions are available in MPR’s Alexandria, VA and Clifton Park, NY offices.
Typical Responsibilities
The individual will be responsible for design of data acquisition, power supply, analog circuits, and microcontroller interfaces. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be familiar with interfacing with board production houses to specify board runs and testing of same. The individual will also model existing analog boards using P-Spice and MATLAB/Simulink as appropriate for root cause investigation and dynamic modeling activities done by MPR.
Qualifications
The candidate must be willing to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment and exhibit strong technical skills and self-motivation. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- BSEE with 5+ years experience in hardware design.
- Skilled in at least some of the following areas:
- Analog/Digital Circuit Design
- Power Supply, DAQ, Video experience
- Bench troubleshooting of boards
- PC Board Layout (Orcad or other)
- Embedded systems programming (ANSI C/C++)
- Embedded tools (ICE, JTAG)
- Vendor Management
- Knowledge of ATMEL, TI, and Hitachi chipsets a plus
- Demonstrated track record of hardware design with several board designs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Position Title: Senior Consultant/Coal-Fired Generation
Position Description
Manage accounts and projects of key fossil-fired power generation clients including technical support of operations, owner’s engineering and project management, plant evaluations and life cycle planning. Other responsibilities include supervising and promoting the technical and professional development of assigned junior and mid-level engineers.
Required Education and Experience
BS with at least 15 years of experience in coal-fired boiler design and operation, and in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art air emissions control technologies (SOx, NOx, Hg, PM).
Additional Qualifications
Knowledge and experience with coal gasification would be a plus. Strong communication skills, existing relationships with prospective coal-fired generation clients and willingness to develop business is also required.
Position Title: Electric Power Engineer
Position Description
Participate in teams working on power systems, power electronics and electrical systems projects for electric generating stations, both nuclear and fossil-fired. Typical work includes updated analyses of existing systems, design and implementation of modifications for improved performance or reliability, and definition of approaches to resolve equipment obsolescence.
Required Education and Experience
BS with at least 5 years of experience in power systems, power electronics and modeling.
Position Title: Senior Engineer/Licensing Engineer
Position Description
Lead multi-disciplinary teams to complete a broad range of engineering projects to improve the design, operation, and maintenance of operating nuclear power plants, with an emphasis on providing licensing expertise.
Required Education and Experience
BS with at least 10 years of experience in nuclear power plant design and licensing.
Position Title: Naval Engineer
Position Description
Work on a variety of engineering projects, including ship and ship systems survivability, particularly recoverability and technology for automated recovery; damage control; fire protection and personnel protection including the design of related ship systems; fire risk assessments; and ship’s operating doctrine, software development and human systems integration related to the foregoing. Additional responsibilities may include supervising the work of other engineers and guiding the professional development of other engineers.
Required Education and Experience
BS in Engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, chemical, materials or marine) or Science (e.g., physics, naval architecture) with at least 10 years of experience.
Additional Qualifications
Experience performing naval engineering in several of the foregoing areas is desired.
